Happy Halloween everyone. Revealing to you my pumpkin character concept. This piece was a lot of fun; it was part of a halloween challenge I set myself. What was supposed to be a 2 day project quickly became 1 week. I was pretty care free about everything and chose the path of least resistance at any opportunity which I think added to the enjoyment aspect of it. His head was made from a pumpkin scan I captured and adapted through many different ideas until I got to this grumpy looking guy. The clothing was thrown together in marvellous designer and then added some tiled texture patterns in substance painter. The tree stump scan was captured with my iPhone and then added into the scene with very minimal cleanup.
As always there are many things I would like to continue working on and improving. The clothing is still very rough. Also, the face I could spend many weeks on if I had the time. Despite all it’s flaws, the main aspect of this project I really enjoyed is that I only spent a few days on it. Usually my projects get stretched out over many months and often get left unfinished, so this one was refreshing in that sense. Hopefully I can strike a balance between the two going forward and add a bit more quality to the work, but keep the speed up with future projects. Anyway, I hope you like how he turned out! Have a great weekend 🎃
